This came up in casual discussion and I would invite feedback.
If a druid uses his/her shapeshifting powers, does this give off an Alteration aura if detected for magically? Or is it considered a 'natural' ability in much the same way that a doppleganger can transform, or when a lycanthrope shifts forms?
When a druid is able to 'pass without a trace' as like the spell by achieving 3rd lvl, does this leave a magical aura like the spell of the same name? Or is this merely some type of 'natural' ability, too?
For the Pass Without Trace, I would say that it is a natural ability, something gained from skill, training and practice. The Druid learns to do this over time, like an Apache.
Shape shifting is another matter. With true Lycantrhopy, or Dopplegangers, it is who/what they are. They are born with this ability. It compares more with a magical creature, rather than as a spell-like ability.
Druids, on the other hand, are not born with the ability to shape shift. It's something they are taught, something they learn, and thus fits in more with a spell-like ability and thus could be detected.
