Starting a new thread, and what better way than with a caption contest?!

Any questions feel free to ask. Otherwise, get cracking on those captions, you have a month.

OK, who couldn’t help but think of Gene Simmons?

It says: “I want to rock and roll all night, and party every day.”

It says: “Beth, I hear you callin', but I can't come home right now. Me and the boys are playin', and we just started another round.”

Heironeous speaking to reader "Most people say they're going to Disney Land after finishing up the Tomb of Horrors... Not Trithereon though... nope, and now I am stuck at Maure castle."

    or

Tritherion "It says Dear Tritherion and Heironeous, you won't find any treasure, and is signed by Istus."

    Heironeous "figgers."

Heironeous: Dammit, Tritherion! You said, "Have a little fun, see Iggwilv's hot daughter, slay some demons..." Nothing about a boooooooring riddle trap, I am soooo out of here.

Riffing on the Mines o' Moria.

Tritherion: "Speak fiend and enter? Speak FIEND and ENTER!? What in the Nine Hells kind of riddle is that?"

Hieroneous: "What was that splashing? Hey Tritherion, do you think there're catfish in this pond?"

Now you have to do a secret origin of the enmity between Cuthbert and Pholtus, where Pholtus steals Cuthberts girlfriend away on the night of the Peaceable Kingdoms of Arcadia High School prom.

Man. That Zilchus as The Donald-thing never fails to crack me up.

    Here's an idea I had -

    "Yuan-ti On A Plane"

St. Cuthbert (or the most Samuel L. Jackson looking of GH's dieties) stuck in Mershaulk's realm in the Abyss raising his mace in the air and shouting -

"That's it! I have had it with these mother-@#$&$!% yuan-ti on this mother-@#$&$!% plane!"

    The look-of Kord-was in-his eyes

    Mortellan,

In the Align Quiz, the look on Kords face in the "follow him back and kill his pals" was PERFECT! I nearly wet my pants laughing, and boy did I need it--the laugh, not the sodden undergarments that is...

Excellent strip, Morte. Who said grovelling helps a minion´s longevity ? Cool

Nice comic Mort. Though I have to admit, didn't recognise old Phaulkon there until Zagig decided to do his Shatner impersonation. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the praise folks! That one took several weeks of writing and planning.

Guardian: Doing Phaulkon has never been easy. I've only used him three times up to date (85+ comics). There is just no reliable canon images of him to go by. It didn't help that I put him in a Mayan mask and a replica of Ricardo Montalban's jacket from Wrath of Khan. Hell I even had to break his alignment to make this storyline work. That's comics for ya! Wink

P.S. There might be a sequel someday to this particular storyline!

    Hmm...

    Hi all,

I can't decide if the design of the chair or the use of "git" is the bigger anachronism, but no one can blame you for needing a week off. You are the hardest working cartoonist in Greyhawkdom. No, wait -- you're the only cartoonist in Greyhawkdom!

    Anachronism?

Even though B's reading a book, the shadow behind the chair shows that he is obviously sitting in front of a TV.

    Current fad?

A plasma HDTV with ambient lighting?

Close enough! Okay my rendering wasn't as obvious as I'd like. With the holes drawn in the top I was going for the 'Croc'. Seems those things are everywhere these days.

You're telling me. Having been away from the US for years, I was amazed when I went back last August and saw crocs everywhere,
    even on little kids.

As far as a roaring fire, no. The shadow from a fire would be
more diffuse. Multiple points of light would create patches o0f lighter and darker shadow as each shadow overlapped. No, Boccob is definately
in front of a single broad but uniform light source. He must be watching
    TV! :)

Hmm this might be true if he were not the god of magic, it could be as simple as a single uniform continual light source!

    Hey Mort,

Great job. I really like how you used my suggestions that worked and ignored the ones that didn't - the extra-wide panel gets around the depth/size issue.

I like the happy leg kick. Flighty elves.

And I like that while the others are drinking beer from mugs and steins, Correllon has left behind his delicate glass - obviously he was drinking Celenese nectarwine or somesuch. That just builds on the androgeny thing while at the same time showing that he was drinking with the others, not off in another corner of the bar. Such a small detail that adds so much! Man, you are gifted!

Woo! Thanks Kirt. Kudos to you too. You provided me with plenty of layout options which made my job easier but it still wasn't a simple one panel comic I tell ya. Correllon was in no less than three different places until I found the best position. The doors also took some arranging, and I still think I could've drawn them in to the left more. Eh. The small details of course is my favorite thing to do. I am glad you noticed the wine glass left behind. And the leg kick symbol idea of yours, that took a dozen redraws before I got it just right. I added the punchline, even though technically the panel needed no dialogue, just them staring at Correllon might've worked. All in all a headache but worth it.

I actually don't remember that being my idea. Perhaps something I said that you interpreted in a way I hadn't considered.

No, the punchline was not necessary, but I do think it adds on and makes it funnier. Well done!

    plus the story´s no terse.

    while one-eyed blows a kiss.
With stolen feast and broken toy,
so far below Lolth shrieks in joy!
