    Quick start to DMing Greyhawk?

I've looked through some other threads, but none seemed to suit my needs, so I am hoping to find some help here.

It's been a long time since I've played in a GH campaign. Our group disbanded years ago and, sadly, I have found no one to replace them. During the years however, I kept up with collecting most of what was published. Sometimes I read some of it, sometimes I just filed it away.

Ok, so I want to get back into GH again, as a DM. What is the fastest way to get me up and running? Which of the published material gives a good cross-section of what has gone before and what is happening? I see that Oerth Journal is posted in PDF form, so I can pick up those after I have read what is necessary.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    Otto.

The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer is probably your best bet. It somewhat depends on what version of D&D you're using, though, since there are practically no 3e/3.5e mods other than Living Greyhawk mods. If you want to use some of the old modules with the 3.5e system, ENWorld has several of them converted.

And, of course, the boards and articles here can answer just a whooooole lot of questions.

And let's not forget the Thursday night greychat (there's a link at the lower left of your screen). Than can be useful, too.

If you're starting out fresh, and want to get up to speed on the changes to the setting, read the LGG and also check out some of the "editions of GH" threads/discussions here and elsewhere; the one at K&K @ http://www.knights-n-knaves.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1085 presents a few nice summaries of the publication of the setting.

    The fastest way?
Get a copy of the original World of Greyhawk (yes, the one from 1983), and have at it. Why depend on what others have made of it? Sure, if there is something of use, take it and run with it. Make the world your own. And give your players the chance to make it a world of their own too. Revamp old modules with new twists. Expedition to the Forgotten Temple of Horrors anyone? Let them realize that WotC/etc's established history that they may think they know, isn't necessarily so in your GH.

    Ciao,
