Mort should be run out of town on a fauchard-fork for not having done better. Laughing

13 out of 22 for me. Cool

I sold my copy of Unearthed Arcana years ago on ebay, but loved studying those pages of weapons in my youth. Smile

14 out of 22....I think the only characters I ever had that had polearms were way back when I was 10 and playing the Mentzer Red-box Basic D&D and I chose the "Polearm" (only 1 choice in that book!) 'cause it did 1d10 points of damage and I think it was cheaper than the Two-handed Sword! :)

11 of 22... and seriously, how can you tell the difference between a pike and a spear without some reference to scale?

14 out of 22.....geez it's been at least 10 years since I've considered any of that stuff....still not quite sure why there had to be dozens of long pole weapons in the Middle Ages. Then again, why do we have enough nukes to clear the Earth over 80 times?
Maybe there's a medieval industrial-military complex that never made it into the history books.... Happy

    Polearm Quiz results

14 out of 22 ... not to shabby. I thought about bringing out my 1st ed stuff and reminiscing while looking for the illustrations for the answers, but I figured it would be more fun if I didn't! I was right! What a hoot! Trying to remember if the bec-de-corbin has the long spike or the Lucerne hammer ... if the little stiletto point makes it a "fork" on any other weapon ... great fun!

    But then ... i'm a g33k. rolleyes

    16 out of 22.

    I mixed up volge-guisarme & glaive-guisarme, confused lochaber axe & pole axe, & missed voulge & awl-pike.

Yes it was difficult but I'm 22 of 22 almost messed up the bec de corbin with lucern hammer.

    http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd%2F4dnd%2Fpolearmquiz

Then I remembered the bec de corbin head was similar to a spear head or awl pike and the lucern hammer has a ranseur like head.

Imagine if I actually used those weapons before. Evil Grin

I just retook it using The Complete Encyclopedia Of Arms & Weapons (a 544-page bada$$ of a book) and managed to get 12 of 22 correct.

Once again I champion the fact that 3.5 logic and real logic do not belong together, even slightly.

In my own defense, I took that quiz in like under 5 minutes while chatting in Greychat at the same time.

    Mort,
Don't let Cebrion get to you. Your the Ull specialist all they know is dagger on a stick. Although I can see Bardiche's being popular amongst the half-breeds.

Bugger I thought I knew my stuffs 12/22 Obviously I didn't know as much as I thought.

Then again I have never had any character who ised one of these weapon (DM used speed rules) and found them far too slow to use and also not suitable for dungeon crawling.

A goos blast from the past never the less. Thanks

16/22 in under 3 minutes, and proud of myself.

P.S. D20 Conan helped me recognize a bardiche instantly

18/22, and solely because I spent a great deal of my youth looking at those very illustrations from 1st ed. Unearthed Arcana.
