Oldskool Greyhawk Links Rising from the Grave

I'm not sure how many folks are aware of the "Reocities" archive, but it is worth a look if you haven't done so already. The project is resurrecting the entire Geocities collection of web pages, including their downloads. There were a ton of Greyhawk sites posted to Geocities back in the day, with maps, text files and even adventures. Not all the links are back up, but they are working at it steadily.

For posterity, here's a partial list of the stuff I have found that has returned from the dead:

    Aloha Greyhawk: http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/Lair/8572/

    Castle Greyhawk: http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/Tower/8841/

Ket Onwall's Site (partial restoration only): http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/Lair/2284/

    Pach's Greyhawk site: http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcade/2426/greyhawk.html

    Philip Niewold's Midnight Tower: http://www.reocities.com/Area51/Keep/3762/

    Seilc's Homepage: http://www.reocities.com/Area51/Dungeon/9715/DandD/

Wes Phillips Greyhawk Page (Gold mine alert...): http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/5878/

World of Greyhawk - Dragon Mound: http://www.reocities.com/Area51/Cavern/8518/index.html

So, if you run across a geocities link in a text file or web link from yesteryear, don't automatically assume it is dead. Try changing the "g" to an "r" in the web address and see what happens. You might be pleasantly surprised...

Very nice to see this page again. This site and OJ were my main sources for new GH material during the lack of official support.

Everyone should go download Roger Moore's Valley Elf history in the "Notes" page. It's much more logical than the disagreement over guard duty presented in OJ's Valley of the Mage article.

Amen to that and glad to be of service. Smile Seeing the return of Philip Niewold's Site with his Dyvers pdf maps is a personal favorite of mine too.

Anyone else have some nifty linkage to add?

Mine old website is always online.
Tons of links to TOEE and Queen of the Spiders.
Achtung! Its navigation is somewhat disconcerting, since you must explore pics with your mouse to discover areas where to click and advance...

Alright, it's a pretty cool-looking website, but I can't read French. So, all I can do is look at the pretty pictures. Razz

However, I'm curious to know more about what you mean by this:

"Nevertheless, if you enjoyed this site or if you're interested with the creation of your favorite hero, please email us at dungeonmeister@free.fr"

Try Wayback Machine on some of those links too(under "geocities", not "reocities") and some additional links on the pages may be active.

Wes Philips's site actually has quite a bit of content that was once in the Downloads section, but that was lost when some file juggling/renaming took place, and which I have been endeavoring to fix for a while now.

Sean Williams(Ket Onnwal) was very helpful in providing the lost maps for his adventure "Ruins of the Mistmarsh" in The Oerth Journal #11, and in critiquing the revised versions. He used to have a decent amount of stuff on his site, notably on bards, druids, and the Old Faith.

Also, anybody can go HERE and add links to those already present, along with a brief description of who's site it is/was, and what one will find there. Just click "Add Link" below the Search window in the center of the the page to get started.

    Book of Artifacts

Wow ... some of these are great! (Some are so-so.) MAN! There's some surprising downloads in this stuff!

But, I gotta say ... I just about bust out laughing when I read these:

That just made my day. I think that there should be a Book of Artifacts, or a Reliquary just for some of these venerable touchstones. Heartwarming, actually.

I don't speak (much) French, but I'm running some of the pages through Google Translate and it's doing a decent enough job that I can follow along. I really like the way you did the narration for adventures in the Temple of Elemental Evil. Especially the part about Celefin singing "I Saw the Club, the Club of St. Cuthbert" with Canon Terjon. Well done! Smile

    To Sir Xaris:

At this time I proposed to gamers to have their PC illustrated. I have not the necessary spare time anymore but our sessions are always illustrated by 3D pics specifically designed...

    To Smillan 31
This TOEE campaign was really fun and sons of these adventurers are still in play ..with the same old geeza...players. You can find queen of the spiders summary as well, concealed in the website.

Geocites is a goner, but many of the pages that were on geocities are in the process of being archived on reocities.com. You need to change the "g" in geocities to an "r" in those web addresses, and then they might lead somewhere.

Read this for more info: http://www.reocities.com/

Thanks Allan... that is exactly what I was hoping for - folks posting their old Geocities links for posterity. You have a number of sites there from your bookmark file that I never knew about or had a chance to peruse. I'm looking forward to the progress Reocities will make in gradually getting these all back online.

    Much obliged!

    Happy
