    Henchmen class and race

    Hi,

In PHB is said that henchmen must have the same race and class as PC.

But from DMG it can be understood that race and class may be different from PC (percentage for different race and class when PC search henchmen).

    What is true?

    Thanks

Official AD&D 1st edition Players Handbook, 6th printing 1980, page 39, section "Henchmen", 2nd paragraph: "Henchmen are always of a character race and character class, but are never player characters."

Right. That says henchmen must have a race and a class (unlike 0-level hirelings). It doesn't say they must have the same race and class as the PC.
