    Source material on grey elves

Over the many years, I've read plenty of good material online and in a few books about the Grey Elves (Faerie). However, in the last 2 years or so I've been so busy with being a dad now that I have forgotten - or just didn't bookmark - any of the online materials regarding grey elves. I have the 2e Book of Elves sourcebook but i know there's more out there.

I'm spinning up my first group to DM for in 3 years, in Greyhawk of course(!), and I need background and info on the grey elves in Greyhawk. I have UA so I have all the crunchy stuff, but story and history and locations where they dwell are desired. I'm guessing Celene...

Can anyone point me to anything that's more than just a paragraph (I'll take that too though, beggars can't be choosy!).

    Cheers

Find a copy of Thiondar's Legacy, from Dungeon Magazine #30. It provides a history of the origin of the Grey Elves and is a pretty good adventure, too.

Note: The damage listed for the Black Dragon's breath weapon is in error. It is a direct copy of the same error made in the 2nd Ed. Monstrous Manual wherein the tens digit was left off, so the damage listed is only 4d4 when it should be about 24d4. Wink

Have you perused any of the following source guides (even though they may not be 1st edition)?

    -The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer
    -original boxed set
    -From the Ashes

If memory serves me, weren't there 4 original elven kingdoms back in the 'early days' of antiquity? One is located in Celene, another in the Vesve and Highvale region (High Forest), a third in the Corusk Mtns that was destroyed by Vecna, and the fourth in Sunndi.

Interestingly enough, or perhaps as an oversight, when you read about Celene, it doesn't really mention high elves as part of the population! Only grey and sylvan elves are noted... Confused

For some reason, I'm remembering that there were seven elven kingdoms. I recall there being others listed as having existed in the Adri, Celadon, and Fellreev forests, as well.

good points all around! I'm going to put on my archivists gloves and gently open my From the Ashes box, as well as other items to read through all of this.
Thank you all and please keep them coming!

I finally got around to reading Thiondar's Legacy from Dungeon Magazine and I thought it was a great adventure, definitely one of my favorites from Dungeon. Several ideas related to Grey Elves and you could expand Grey Elves tie-ins even more with some additional threads.

Elliva, just touching base and curious what you are thinking for your game.

well in this game, i have two players - both with some experience in RPGs and both with a smattering of exposure to D&D. We talked about their characters when rolling them up, personality, backstory, etc. I gave them a list of elven subraces to choose from (NOT aquatic or drow) and both liked grey elves for different reasons.

THe rest of the players are complete noobs but very open to playing. The party consists of 2 magic-users (grey elves), 2 specialty priests (a gnome and a half-orc) and 1 thief (dwarf). So no figthers, I'm not sure they're going to last that long.

My plan is to have them come together and meet in Greyhawk at the Blue Dragon Inn (or was it Silver? I'm tired right now) then maybe send them off on a small adventure to get warmed up then of course onward to Hommlet and let the games begin.

I believe it is/was the Green Dragon Inn. You can have a Blue if you want of course. Happy
