    Greyhawk specific art crowd-funding

    Hi Greyhawkers,
Some time last year I finally commissioned an artist to produce a portrait for one of my main characters. It was thrilling to finally see some artwork of him and not crazy expensive (but not cheap either).

I have been busy drafting articles for OJ and realise how much better articles are when accompanied by good artwork. Then I was thinking how I would love to commission someone to produce some greyhawk specific art (in this case I was thinking of a Zuoken-worshipped Baklunish Monk or a Monk of the Scarlet Sign).

I then got to thinking if I had an unlimited bank account what greyhawk art would I commission? A cleric of St Cuthbert or Heironeous? A Knight Protector of the Great Kingdom? One of the famous wizards of other notable personage? Famous elite soldiers?

Then I was thinking how other Greyhawks would love that too.

So has anyone ever had the thought of trying to crowd-fund some greyhawk specific artwork? I mean 30 people paying a $4 bucks each could get a decent artist to produce a nice picture? If we did a poll we could probably get a few pieces that enough people would like to see that they might agree to collectively funded them. There are probably websites that could facilitate this?

Does anyone think this idea has merit? Has it been tried before?
What would are the top 3 pictures you would like an artist to do?

Hey Phalastar. I'm a freelance illustrator. I've been able to do a couple of Greyhawk related pieces which was great and when my current commissions are done I plan on finally doing some more Greyhawk pieces, maybe via a patreon page eventually.

If you're interested you can check my work out at http://mike-lowe.co.uk

Here's one ... The White Eye mentioned in the Scarlet Brotherhood sourcebook. I won't include the actual image in case it's not classed as PG enough.

Thanks Mike. Love your art work. I figure it would always be better to work with someone who knows Greyhawk. Will keep you in mind if things progress or if I end up doing something myself.

Excellent idea. Start a Patreon and put out a few pieces a month. Im subscribed to several patreons for my AD&D campaigns. I use them to get artwork for generic places and things. Forged Studio's and Raging Swam Press. Its a great value when you have many subscribers paying monthly to support the work. Im about to great my own for Greyhawk music.
