In Castle Maure, the portrait of the demon lord Fraz-Urb'luu, the Prince of Deception, occasionally shifts and changes to depict young boy, dressed in light blue robes emblazoned with various symbols of Fharlanghn. The boy appears similar to the other depiction present labeled with Dalt's name and title. The painting changes scenes when touched, showing the boy being directed by a mysterious red-haired, green-eyed woman to enter a magical portal that transports him into a dark void only lit by his blazing blue eyes. A dark presence seemingly attached to her shadow, then leaves the woman. Because this image is part of the portrait of the Prince of Deception, the accuracy or veracity of these images is in unknown.

An idea, a scenario for the Lady ?

From the context (this is in Dungeon #139, page 75, in a portrait of Fraz-Urb'luu in Maure Castle) the red-haired lady is likely Fraz-Urb'luu himself, disguised in a comely form as he deceives young Dalt.
However, there's also a connection to Wee Jas—the symbols surrounding Dalt's portrait are in an occult language that Wee Jas is said to have hidden the key to. It's possible the red-haired lady is Wee Jas, but Fraz-Urb'luu has somehow hidden himself in her shadow, and played some role in deceiving them both.
Either way, the lady directs Dalt toward a portal to some mysterious void. The way that Dalt was meant to open. Something terrible may have happened connected to the Maure family and their secrets. Perhaps this is the origin of "Y" (the Yellow King?).
It's likely Fraz-Urb'luu needed Dalt to open a portal to some plane that was impossible for a demon prince to reach, and found a way to deceive him into doing so.

I didn't know the King in Yellow or his sign. Interesting reading on Wikipedia.
If Dalt opens a door to the Far Realm, the Y would suit Yog-Sothot, the Key and Gatekeeper (Deities & Demi-gods).
I really like the presence of Fraz-Urb'Luu. I associate it with the unleashing of the Colorless Rain rather than the Ancient Elemental Evil with its unpronounceable name.

There is an old Maure Castle forum archived on the Paizo site, into which Rob Kuntz occasionally waded. My recollection is he was questioned about the Dalt stuff at one point and was characteristically evasive—however, you can read between the lines here and conclude that the CG Sullies god of portals Dalt is actually a ruse persona perpetuated by Nyarlathotep, presumably with the intent of freeing some greater being. Probably that's meant to be Tharizduun (Rob had a slightly different spelling) but there were other Cthuluesque beings present in his original campaign that could also fit the bill.

I have browsed the forum. The word "evasive" is right but it is true that we are asking for explanations about adventures written in the 80s.
I prefer the idea of Yog Sothot, the key and keeper of the Far Realm. On the other hand, how does Dalt have a relic that could open the prison of Tharizdun? Dalt is a friend of Mordenkainen!

I think the implication is that "Dalt" is and always was Nyarlathotep, the whole demigod of doors thing is a ruse to instigate foolish mortals (e.g. Mordenkainen or the like) into freeing something beyond his own ability to do so.
