I'm sure I've asked this before, but with the Archive offline, I have no long term memory ;)
What's the origins of the Yakmen, both in the setting, and where they've been published (first in a Dragon article IIRC??). _________________ Allan Grohe (grodog@gmail.com)

Did they originate in the Al'Qadim campaign setting? I think Wolfgang Baur wrote a Dragon ecology article on them.

Weren't they in a "Monstrous Manual" update/annual/appendix or something for 2nd Edition? I recall seeing a color image of a Yakman in one of those. If I find it, I'll tell you where I got it.

I believe that the Yakmen can be found here...
MC13, Monstrous Compendium, Al-Qadim(R) Appendix (TSR2129)
Here is the color image I mentioned...

I know this isn't much help, but it's all I could find.

The yikaria originated in the Al-Qadim setting. They weren't in the MC, at least not in my copy. I think they were originally in the Land of Fate boxed set, although my copy doesn't have that monster sheet.
They're a race of evil, plotting creatures whose god, the so-called Forgotten God or Faceless One, won a bet with the great khan of the dao, causing that genie race to be enslaved to the yikaria for a thousand and one years.

@ woesinger: LOL :D
So, how did they end up being added to GH, or was that done as part of the WG7 hoax or something??? _________________ Allan Grohe (grodog@gmail.com)

They weren't, not officially. There are some suggestions for adapting them to the Greyhawk campaign in Dragon #241, but nothing more than that.

Aha, thanks. I was taking manic's GHC fiction a little too much to heart, it seems ;) _________________ Allan Grohe (grodog@gmail.com)

As long as we are on the subject, what was the origen of the Canadian Kilted Yakmen? Now THEY would make a good addition to WG7!

That would be Ren and Stimpy.
