Hi all,

One of my player's PC's in moving up the ranks among followers of Xan Yae. A logical capstone quest would be finding and freeing Zuoken. But the players have already been to Castle Greyhawk twice and once released other prisoners, so there is not much mystery left there.

Has anyone done something with Z being imprisoned somewhere else?

Any ideas are welcome!

Maybe Zuoken did something to displease Xan Yae, like forsake his discipline - maybe a vow of celibacy designed to keep him focusing all his energies in his martial and mental arts - for the sake of a mortal lover, so she imprisoned him in the Plane of Shadow, setting a series of puzzles and tests that only those truly faithful to her could pass. Eventually the PCs might earn Zuoken's freedom by pleasing the Perfect Mistress; whether he'd choose to go back to serving the goddess, humbled by his experience, or whether he'd decide to quit and live as a mortal is something that might depend on him, or on the persuasive abilities of the PCs.

IMC, Zuoken was released from Castle Greyhawk at the same time as the other demigods, but almost immediately captured by the Scarlet Brotherhood and imprisoned on the Plane of Shadow (in a place coterminus with the Negative Plane, known as the Oubliette).

He was eventually found and freed by the PCs.
