Ran randomly into one of Shanon Lee and Steve Miller's Liaden Universe books and loved it, I'm now gathering and reading the rest of them.

They are Scifi and kind of remind me of the short lived but well done Firefly TV series, an interesting mix of cultural contexts used as a backdrop for fascinating characters.

The series is a bit odd to try to read as it covers a huge time frame in a rather random order with 10 published novels, 12 chapbooks, and 2 serialized online novels.

Just saw the announcement that Elizabeth Moon is publishing some more books in her excellent Deeds of Pakanisan series that she wrote in the 80s.

The main character of the series is a female paladin. Magic is real but seldom flashy... the series for some reason always had a kind of Greyhawkish feel for me.

I'm going to have to reread the series to get ready for the new books.

I'm unfamiliar with this series. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the "heads up" Varthalon!

Oh, how I wish I could participate in this particular forum. Unfortunately, I'm completely illiterate. I can't read or write a word, so...

    Oh, nevermind.

    Just a warning Rossik....

Late spicy dinner + falling asleep while reading Cthulhu = the most disturbing dreams I think I've ever had.

David Weber's Safehold series (very much like Horatio Hornblower with some SciFi blended in it).
