I was just noticing that according to the bottom of the Canonfire Forum Index screen, Canonfire! members have posted a total of 23,362 articles. Yet when I click on 'Topics' I find only 832 articles listed. Does the term 'articles' at the bottom of the page refer to forum posts or regular articles? If it refers to regular articles such as those listed under the 'Topics' heading, then where are the other 22,530 articles? And if those 22,530 articles have been moved elsewhere, how can I get my hands on them? |
Bubba, ping me on chat (chatdemon). I can't see where you're finding that 23,362 number.
Edit ]Nevermind, I see it. Yes, that is only forum activity. PHPBB, the forum software, calls all posts articles. So there have been 26k + posts in the forum since July 2003, including replies, but not counting the spam and handful of misc posts that have been deleted for whatever reason. There were also two incarnations of the CF forum before this one. The first was a very basic help/feedback set up that got almost no traffic, the second used a forum/mailing list aggregator called Phorum, that posted topics from the greytalk mailing list to a forum like interface on the site. Both early incarnations were unfortunately lost to the great internet archive in the sky when this forum replaced them. If the GT Archive ever manages to be recovered and put up on the site, the Phorum posts would be included, but technical issues make that an unlikelihood at this time.
But anyway, 832 is the number of actual website article. 26k is forum posts.,
