    Plastic Greyhawk

In the earlier half of the 80's,there we're a large contingient of toys from the AD&D line produced by LJN ( i still have a few.)All of these toys we're at the time unknown in world of Greyhawk, but did have a bearing on the Greyhawk history and a few could even be seen in the saturday morning cartoon. We all know that Warduke is one of the few characters to have survived the 80's,but what of the others? What happend to Perelay(whom i assume is Melf.),Kelek,Elkhorn,Ringlerun or the dozens of other characters gone but not forgotten???Does any further canon exist on this subject ( Aside from "quest for the heartstone" and the "Shady Dragon INN".)?

AFAIK, there's no canon on any of them, but others here may know more. I think Warduke only made it in because of his appearances in Dungeon Magazine.

I do miss the Shady Dragon Inn, though. I used that thing to pieces back in the day. Maybe I should consider revising it for use in my Greyhawk campaign. Hmmm....

I have heard a few speculatory hints that strongheart was another name used by prince thrommel, and that melf is perelay or perelay is his brother ( I have heard both versions.)But there's a coloring book with stranger than fiction material involved that takes place within the ruins of Castle Greyhawk, which features many of these characters from the toy line.Canon or not,the cartoon was created and co-produced by EGG himself!Geographicly and historicly speaking, easily non-canon in my opinion, concerning the television show.I believe the characters would possibly have became more canonized 'if' Gygax had stayed with TSR.

This would be one of the books in question by the way for those not too familiar.

From what I've read, the Peralay toy was originally known as Melf. It was renamed Peralay later on, but they're the same character.

Interesting little toys, and I love the Shady Dragon Inn. I used to own a PDF of it before Wizards snatched it into the Abyss...
Here is a good website on the toys: http://www.toyarchive.com/DungeonsDragons.html
According to it the 'Peralay' figure was indeed originally produced as Melf, but apparently after the first run ran out the figure was renamed.

There is no canon aside from AC1 Shady Dragon Inn, and the module XL1 Quest for the Hearststone, and the later stuff about Warduke afaik.

But rasgon wrote an excellent article about the Horned Society which weaves them into Greyhawk lore.

I seem to remember Warduke being Written in as one of the Hierarchs of the Horned Society.

Actually here's a Wikipeida entry on the Horned Society.

I don't own any of the D&D cartoon coloring books, but so far as I know, the only coloring book penned by EGG and set in Castle Greyhawk is the 1979 Troubador Press AD&D coloring book @ http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/miscpages/miscscans/coloring.html

Is that the one you were talking about in your second post, AcidArrow, or did you mean than one of the cartoon coloring books was also GH-relevant?

Yes, Erik Mona did that in Dungeon #105.

See also the thread on The Fate of the Horned society and rasgons article that I linked to above.
