    POSTFEST XVII: Topic Poll

Okay you Greyhawk sell-swords and scoundrels, it's high time to rally the troops for another Postfest. Postfest is easy to join as you veterans know, so get in formation newcomers. I won't lie though, not all of you will be coming back, but those who succeed in writing for Postfest shall never die for your articles shall live on in Greyhawk glory!

First things first however, let's take a poll on a topic. Reccomendations and comments are encouraged.

Yay, I'm the first to vote! That means that at this point, Inns and Taverns is winning 100% to nothing. Razz

Inns and Taverns would be a fun opportunity for me to expand on a couple of the locales in Fort Blackwell where my soon-to-be-submitted adventure takes place. Smile

Let's make that two votes for Inns and Taverns.

I think that would be three votes for inns.. and like SirXaris, would like to correlate it to upcoming submission of "Grey Friar" and "The Gauntlets of Mayaheine" I have to share.

I decided to throw my lot in monsters and races. Since we already has three drunks I figured a fourth might be one too many. Now if Inns and Taverns could include any local like shops and services I think it would increase my interest in it.

In my days as a bachelor, the name of the bar was only important if I hooked up with someone or if the bartender could make a good drink and if she was hot. Razz

I voted for Magic Items, but could easily be swayed by Myths & Legends, too....

Alrighty ... so, I'm thinking that in writing, I always include Myths and Legends of just about whatever topic I write. ... I always put an NPC in related to the topic, and often Magic Items that could be found within that context ... and whatever the article, it's likely going to have some of the local Monsters related to it ...

So, that pretty much leaves Inns & Taverns.
I would absolutely love to do a follow-up article to the "Laughing Turtle" piece I wrote back in 2009!!
Please, please, PLEASE make it Inns and Taverns!
We need another Rhennee-flavoured article, and nothing's gotten me to write for Canonfire in years!! ... but, the Rhenfolk would! OMG!! I just realized that could write something that included the Hasty Barrge of the Nyr Dyv this time! And I could continue the narrator, Meritaelin Vindreşkaya, the Rhennee bargeman who is willing to barter knowledge of the Rhenfolk and their customs to outsiders.

We go to Inns and Taverns to hear Myths and Legends about NPCs who use Magic Items against Montsers.

So ... the poll has been up for just about 30 days now!
Do we have a quorum on the topic, yet? Or are there other input that should be tallied, or weighted votes to be cast?

I'm hoping that we go with Inns and Taverns by a nose!

I voted for NPCs but I've got to write up a small hamlet for my game and it includes an inn. Two birds, one stone?

Yeah, 5 or so more days. It is looking close but most of the chatter in the comments section has been for inns. I haven't forgotten about this.

Have postfest submissions for a contest ever been compiled into a pdf?

Not that I am aware of ... but, that's a pretty friggin' awesome idea!
almost like the "Best of Dragon Magazine", or a similar concept. Put that one on the whiteboard.

I had mentioned to Gary about doing a PDF compilation of various CF author's works that are thematically linked. This would include anthologies of PF works. As with anything all we need is someone well versed in PDF-fu.

This idea has been on the white board for a few years actually, and is one of the things that is planned to be feature in Canonfire! Chronicles. Once the first one comes out, meaning that the format has been square away, we could put out Postfest compilations and such after that.
