    Salt Harbor?

Why is there a town called Salt Harbor on the Nyr Dyv if it's fresh water?

Are there salt mines there or something?

I'd guess it would be a place where the catch was salted before transport and resale. its probably convenient to the fishing grounds and a salt deposit or two nearby.

I imagine that salt mines are more important on a freshwater lake than they would be for ocean-adjacent communities. People went there to trade for salt, and the name stuck.

If you wanted to make it more high fantasy, there could be a vortex/portal to the Quasielemental Plane of Salt there.

-How about the lake was discovered, owned, or ruled by someone or a group named "Salt"?

What if it was originally the Sulhaut Harbor, named by migrants from the western mountains?
