This is the next portion of the Sheldomar Valley map project of mine. It fits directly below the Central Flanaess map found here.

Included in this map is great portion of the Sea of Gearnat, the northwest coast of the Azure Sea, the west coast of Onnwal, the south Wild Coast, most of the Suss Forest. All of the Principality of Ulek and the Pomarj are here as well! Far to the south you'll spot Fairwind Isle and Sybarate Isle of the Sea Princes. I have pictured the islands of the Sea Princes as similar to the large Caribbean islands, in particular Hispaniola, so I added some rugged terrain there.

More than other maps, this one has the greatest portion of its area filled with water. To make things interesting, I drew a barrier reef and sea trench off the coast of Fairwind Isle. You might even spot a few sea mounts here and there.

    Enjoy!

Excellent! This is turning out to be a very useful collection of maps -- better than anything else I've been able to find -- THANKS!

Eric you need to get paid for this if you were mapping Greyhawk in published form the setting would be looked at more. Hey Terrance could whip up some cool covers and it's solid after that.

Just a quick question. What do you use as your reference? For instance the map I have that comes with the LGG doesn't show any forests in the Principality of Ulek. Likewise, the road system of the PoU is new to me, and I assume the squares are fortresses? Is there another source that I should look at? Where are Twembly Manor, Oakenburgh, and Brenfluss referenced? Thanks!

I assume you are referring to the woods in the hills. For one the LGG map doesn't purport to have the level of detail I am doing. Second the LGG map is based on the map that came in The Adventure Begins, which itself it based on the Darlene map from the 83 boxed set. The hexes in the Darlene map only represented the type of terrain that is the majority terrain type per hex. The forests I put in the Principalty are up in the hills, and those forests are smaller than what a Darlene hex would have been anyway.

Lastly, the slopes of hills and mountain are highly highly likely to be tree-covered in reality. Therefor I put a good amount of forests on the slopes where I felt they might make some sense.

(A note on my forests: I don't cover the hills and mountains entirely with the trees which are in all likelihood there for the simple matter that there will be a treeline at high elevations. Also, and this is most important, covering everwhere trees would be in the mountains would hide the topography. So I try to give a good balance.)

Twembly Manor, Oakenburgh and Brenfluss, those are all locations in the module "Patriots of Ulek."

For the road system, I just connected major cities via reasonable routes, for the most of them. About the fortresses, I seem to recall reading in the Principality of Ulek LG site that a line of defensible fortresses were being built along the base eastern edge of the hills along a road going north (along the border with the Pomarj Empire) to the Prinzefeld domain. If you are aware of a system of roads that have been described somewhere, I'd love to know about it!

    Regards,
    Eric Anondson

    eanondson,

A breathtaking work of art. The brilliant use of color, accurate detail, and Greyhawker heart, moves me. The cartographers union has no place to hang your map for fear of shaming master Darlene. You have this humble DM's deepest admiration, and sincere respect. There simply is no comparison. Thank you.

Here is a new working link to my these maps, at least until June 2012.

    http://gallery.me.com/xeoth#100034

Regarding the late late reply to my source for Twembly Manor, etc. I believe those came from the WGQ1 Patriots of Ulek adventure, by Anthony Prior.

Feels odd having those mapped when by logic there should be many more such low population settlements throughout the Principality, but I stuck with only mapping known canon sites. The thought of imagining countless similar ruins in Pomarj occupied lands is fascinating.

As for why I placed forests in the hills? The central Drachensgrabs were described as getting a lot of rain. Mountains with abundant rain naturally are covered with forests. That said, I decided to keep them rather sparse implying they have been substantially deforested since . . . Just my own interpretation!
