Yup, just went back through the board and you were the one. I've used the names in the 1e MM as Clan names in a homebrew world of mine in which I greatly detailed the orcs and their origins and later transplanted some of it in my Greyhawk campaigns. Your comment in the message board about the clans being attached to a specific orc deity sparked an interest in me and fit in quite well with what I was allready using. Thanks for the inspiration!
In my campaign the orcs in service to Yurtrus play an important role in Nevrash's plans and are aided by an artifact in the defilement of the land. Hopefully I'll get to cover in depth in the expanded version of this I am working on.
And yes you are correct, the initial overview of the Empire's movements is a compiled rehash of the printout of the Greyhawk wars and info found in the LGG added to set the stage for information on the orcish occupation of Ulek. The authors of those works deserve the credit there as they were necessary to lead up to information on the region.
