Some spellbooks just seem to have a knack for changing hands, appearing and disappearing through out the course of history. Read on to learn of one of these books and the magic contained with in it.

Spell Books of the Flanaess: Demanding Dweomercraft

Description: This small non-descript book is bound in supple leather. It bears neither title nor author on the cover or binding, and can be latched shut by means of a peg on the front cover and a red ribbon that wraps around from the back. The book is nearly a perfect square, being approximately eight inches to a side. And, it contains 102 pages with in. The title can be found on the first page, along with the signature of its author.

History: Demanding Dweomercraft was one of the traveling spell books of the Baklunish arch-mage Naniel IbnNurth when he was exploring the bitter north nearly a hundred years ago. No one knows how IbnNurth lost the book, but the book seems to have a penchant for getting lost, often through seemingly bizarre happenstance. Demanding Dweomercraft has passed through several hands since then, including those of such notables as Mordenkainen, and Melf Brightflame, but none have been able to hold onto it for long.

Most recently the book was known to be in the possession of Chrysandra Silverleaf, a young half-elven wizardess of no small skill. She and her adventuring company, the Band of the Dark Bow, vanished while searching for some alleged dwarven ruins along the eastern edge of the Abbor-Alz not long after the start of the Greyhawk Wars (around 584 CY).

Contents: Demanding Dweomercraft has twenty-five spells in it, all above 3rd-level. The last two pages are blank, and the inside back cover has a symbol of insanity cast on it. The symbol will magically reappear on the inside back cover one day after it is activated. The spells contained with in Demanding Dweomercraft are: acid fog, Baleful polymorph, circle of death, greater teleport, iron body, legend lore, mass haste, move earth, passwall, permanency, polymorph, polymorph any object, prismatic spray, protection from spells, shapechange, spell turning, statue, summon monster VIII, sunburst, symbol of pain, symbol of insanity, vision, wall of force, and the unique spell Nanielís Sphere of Changes (described below).

When this spell is cast all living creatures with in the targeted sphere are polymorphed into an animal of the casters choice, the caster can chose any natural land animal or bird, but dire animals, fish, or magical beasts are not allowed. All creatures in the area of effect are turned into the same animal. A successful Fortitude save on a targets part means that the spell is only temporary, lasting 1 round per level of the casting wizard, a target that fails his save however is stuck in the new form permanently.
Material components: of this spell are a dried doppelganger heart, and the horn of an ogre mage.
