'Hawk gets a little face time in Complete Mage

...Well, at least as much as we can expect for a third edition supplement. Laughing

There's some very... interesting stuff.. Confused ... including a burn to Otiluke and Mordenkainen near the end. Mad

Hmm.... yes. Otiluke gets a raw deal again. It is not enough that the poor guy is dead. Now people dig him up to chuck stones at him.

My arcanists will still be relying on Mr. M's nice extra-dimensional refuge and Mr. O's impervious force bubbles long after all the, ahem, "interesting" spells of latter days have bitten the dust.

Not altogether sure that I trust the judgement of someone who seems to be lining up Vecna as his first choice for party member, either. Power, yes. Reliability, no. Unless his own PC is planning to sleep with the Sword of Kas under his pillow.

As an aside, I hope that that new first level spell which gives one a +10 to one's spell penetration has some pretty serious limitations attached. Otherwise, the nearest comparable spell is assay resistance... which is 4th level. Previews are oft misleading, though, so I shall wait and see.

True Casting

Ah, I see the limits now. Only works for the next spell cast, and is presumably a standard action rather than a swift one itself. I still think that that is a bit unbalanced - but then, I do not really like the way in which assay resistance lets the world and his wife nuke SR already. Never mind...

"neither Otiluke nor Mordenkainen have come up with some pretty unexciting spell concepts--come on, guys, spheres and mansions? Please."

Besides dissing Mordenkainen and Otiluke, the guy seems unaware of the rule in English about double negatives. And he is a writer?
