You could also read Artifact of Evil, the 2nd Gord novel from EGG. Melf makes an appearance in there which I found to be nicely inspiring because it compliments the mere stats of that character with a personality.

Stats for Melf were discussed previously on this board here
In the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer Melf is listed as Wiz14/Ftr4. I'm sure there's a short paragraph of description in there too.
While Duicarthan did an epic statblock for him here , I would stat him at a little lower level.

I just ran a text search of the PDF and turned up only two instances of the word Melf. Both times he's merely mentioned in passing.
