How much is one map hex?

So I use this map ( Darlene's If remeber corectly) for my games. The info I need is how "long" is one hex, so I could calculat how fast PCs will travel on it - any help? Map don't have proper scale. Confused

As I recall, the Darlene map is 1 hex to 30 miles.

The map in the link is not Darlene's map. However, it appears that its maker did stay true to the hexes used by Darlene on her map, so it is the same size.

The actual scale of Darlene's map is 1 hex = 10 leagues. Since a league is about 3 miles, 1 hex = about 30 miles. Wink

Darn! I never realized what the scale of the Flanaess was before. The Nyr Dyv is only slightly smaller than the Black Sea. Some lake.

Yes. About 30 miles across, and about 780 square miles (about 2,020 square kilometers for metrically inclined friends) of area per hex.

Yep... chew on that for a while... i find "scale" is greatly underestimated in Greyhawk. I made an article to try and loosen things up in folks' minds: http://www.canonfire.com/cf/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1066&mode=&order=0&thold=0
