Ready 'reat?

Hey folks,

Please forgive my ignorance... but could someone please tell me what the "'reat" in "Ready 'reat" (one of the months on the Greyhawk calendar) stands for? Thanks in advance for your insights!

This is only a guess.....but I think its short for "ready retreat".....as in the withdrawal of autumn (retreat of the sun) and the onset of winter.

Anyone else have an insight?

Thanks for your reply! I thought it would be something along the lines of what you suggested... any other ideas out there?

I always used to read that as "Ready Wheat" since it takes place after the harvest.

I always associated it with the harvest, too, rhineglade. I didn't find "reat" or "'reat" in Merriam Webster Online....
