GenCon 2016: Greyhawk Meet and Greet

Okay folks, most of you know the drill by now. Who is going to GenCon this year (Aug 4-7)? And if so who is interested in hanging out with fellow Canonfire and Greyhawk fans at a restaurant on Friday evening (Aug 5)?

Our get-together last year was at the High Velocity restaurant inside the JW Marriott (the blue hotel) and it went over pretty good! This is the same hotel that hosted a bunch of Greyhawk Reborn games, so there is no better ground at the con than here!

I will be there of course. I've been to a lot of these but I'm not totally in charge, so I'm open to ideas and suggestions. I'd love to meet more new faces this year!

Greyhawk Reborn will be there again! We really enjoyed meeting and talking with all of you in 2015, and wouldn't miss it this year!

Awesome! I'll be there again, too.

I'll be representing TPKGames officially, but Greyhawk unofficially. Cool

It's always a blast to meet and chat with fellow Greyhawk fans in person. I hope to have some time to jump into a Greyhawk Reborn game or two this year, too. Smile

Mort, it was my understanding that the Gencon had moved to the stadium there in indi.......Is there any truth to that? And how does that relate to logistics and proximity to hotels etc?

(not speaking for Mort); IF it is in the stadium, that is no issue--plenty of hotels, food, watering holes, etc within walking distance.

well I'm basing it on this
http://www.wthr.com/story/30669379/gen-con-2016-expanding-to-lucas-oil-stadium

and not being from Indi I am unfamiliar with what is in proximity to the stadium.

I was considering bringing my team this year as none of us have been to "Mecca" and I am the only one to have participated in other cons, but still working out all the logistics.

The stadium is within walking distance of the previous venue. In fact, we usually had to park farther out and walk past the stadium to get to the convention hall. What was frustrating was that last year they didn't even allow the stadium parking to be open some of the days. Hopefully, there will be even more parking with the con being at the stadium.

To clarify, Gen Con is expanding into the stadium, and will still also be housed in the convention center. It is an easy walk via walkway between the two locations.

With any luck I'll be free to hang out at a seminar or game this year. I usually keep my schedule open. August can't get here soon enough!

Unfortunately, it appears that I will not make it this year, folks. I have just begun a new job.

I will miss the fun and the chance to see many of you again, but I hope you will all have a little bit of extra fun for me. Razz

If there are any Greyhawk-related handouts, freebies, etc. at Anna's booth or the seminars, I'd certainly love to get a couple of each! I'm happy to pay postage :D

Greyhawk Reborn is planning on representing at the Greyhawk get-together, though I myself am not able to attend Gen Con this year. I do expect a full accounting of it, though!

We are actually running our Greyhawk Reborn 5E games at the JW Marriot as well, in room 312, so stop up, see us, and talk to us!

Doug Behringer is attending GenCon this year, so I pointed him to the Friday gathering. 7pm, right?

Grodog you better tell your friend it's off at least where Canonfire is concerned. Had too many people drop out. Plus Anna has the Ennies. Sorry to anyone else on the forum who considered going. I hope next year is better.
