Oerth Journal #32 is out

Hi everyone, just an announcement that Oerth Journal #32 is out. Its release was going to coincide with GaryCon (until the plague of Incabulos forced its cancellation.)

It's hard to believe that the venerable zine is still kicking after 25 years, but every time the standard hits the ground, some new Caldni Vir picks it back up again.

New editor, Kristoph Nolen, is doing a great job, he even convinced me to write something for it.

Here's the link: http://greyhawkonline.com/oerthjournal/

Great, which article was it?

Mine was called: Reign of Death. It's about an alternate Greyhawk where the Death Knights had initially won.

Glad that y'all are enjoying it, and that it's getting plenty of downloads!
Be sure to pass the word on all your social media and such - especially in private groups - otherwise they may not hear!

Good job, Amy.

A meta article for the things that every good DM should keep in mind when developing NPCs and the campaign setting. I would only add one more "W" to the standard journalism list: "WTF".

It is that element of whimsy or wonder that makes a player think they are no longer in a safe space or tethered to the real world. An element of fantasy that makes you say, wow.

I like it. I agree.

One of the abilities I gave Gwendolyn when I imported her into the Greyhawk campaign I now play in, was the ability to talk to horses. Really talk to them as if she spoke their language. She had no other magical abilities beyond the paladin spells she eventually gained (when she was still a paladin; the character has evolved greatly since then).

Everyone thought she was crazy, because she would talk to horses and act liked they talked back. Only they really did.

One of the most memorable episodes playing her was one night they camped out in the Cairn Hills. Something spooked one of the horses who nayed, "Shut up!" The other horses responded in a round of "No, you shut up!" "No, YOU shut up!"

Which eventually resulted in the frustrated Gwendolyn, (who was trying to sleep) shouting out, "ALL OF YOU ... SHUT UP!"

The other PCs just heard the whinnying of the horses and thought nothing of it. They thought Gwendolyn had gone nuts. She never lived it down.

Good times! :)

It's fantastic that the Oerth Journal is getting such attention. It's huge now. So much content! Great articles, too. Great ideas to incorporate into your campaign.
I've very pleased that there are so many new contributors. That means that Greyhawk is alive and well in the gaming community!
Thanks to all for submitting so many articles, and thanks to Kristoph for steering the magazine.
PS: I'm in there too. 2nd time! I hope you all enjoy my short story, "A Decidedly Disastrous Day," within.
Hey, why not read my first submission to the OJ in the last issue, "The Castle."

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words!
We're all very pleased that the last year of the OJ has been so well received!
I am especially happy ... I worried for a long time whether it would be as popular as it was in years past. Turns out, it's more popular than it ever has been! We now typically get upwards of 1,000 downloads of each issue, and there's upwards of 2,000 unique visitors to GreyhawkOnline each month.

This has done a lot for bringing the community together and letting people see that there's a lot of creators out there, and that sharing creations with others is a fantastic thing!

Again, thank you all for the wonderful comments!

Certainly agree.. Great edition... GH endures....

After talking with Icarus (Kristoph) over Virtual Garycon, that convinced me to back it up as a patreon (Which I encourage others to also do).
