The Peak of the Nightlord is an adventure in "The Slayers Guide to Undead" by Gary Gygax and Jon Creffield.
I'm looking for ideas on where in the Flanaess would be a good place to put it so that the physical description and background history fit in.
Here is some of the setting description:
Unska and Bogran are human settlements. The houses are wattle and daub and close together.
"chickens, pigs, and goats roam."
"You might place the village of Unska in any remote mountainous region..."
"The Black mountain that rears over the village of Unska was once home to a powerful warlock who styled himself the Nightlord. He was a malevolent tyrant who made pacts with the black lords of Hades, hell, and the abyss."
"The warlock was named Emandrel Capathar."
The Nightlord was defeated by Estania "centuries ago".
She "set forth to rally the land against Emandrel. Estanial campaign lasted three months and during that time she welded commoner and aristocrat into a competent fighting force."
" a second marker, one hidden amidst the foliage to the east of the road. It is fashioned from stone and heavily laden with moss, it reads Peak of the Nightlord and an engraved arrow points off towards the glowering mountains dominating the eastern horizon."
The Overland Map accompanying the adventure shows Unska and Bogran on a wooded plain to the west of a mountain chain.
So where do you think would be a good fit for this place and why? _________________ The eternal war between Law and Chaos flared often in Greyhawk... But the laws of Chance will let neither gain full sway. Quag Keep, Chap 1&2
Per the last portion of the description, I suggest the following:
Within Perrenland, west of the Ulsprue Mountains.
Within Sterich, west of the Jotens.
In Geoff, southeast of the Hornwood in the plains between that forest and the Crystalmists.
In the hills of Ket between the Bramblewood and the Barrier Peaks or east of the Bramblewood between it and the southeastern arm of the Yatil Mountains.
Perhaps Bissel or the Gran March - west of the Lortmils.
And, there should be many similar locations on the eastern half of the map of the Flanaess. ;)

-Could be in the northern Gamboge/southern Pale. How big is the "wooded area"? Does it necessarily show up on the Darlene map?
The villages have pseudo-Slavic names. You could tie it in to "Armistice" in Dungeon 84, if keeping the names the same has any importance to you.
is a really great suggestion! I think it fits really well there. Sterich does seem to have a similar Eastern Europe vibe as the adventure but so little information is written about Sterich that the historical events of the adventure can easily be plugged right in and the geography is a perfect fit.
Thank you - great idea.
