Greyhawk '76

My gaming group's headed back to Greyhawk for a D&D 2024 playtest. I'm calling the campaign Greyhawk '76, and it's taking place in and around the Free City.

The last time the Blackrazor Guild was in the Free City of Greyhawk, there were some misunderstandings involving the burning down of an inn, an execution, the abduction of a corpse, and a subsequent resurrection.

It resulted in a permanent ban from the Free City, which was fine really - the PCs needed to go off and save Geoff from giants, and there were these Hextorite knights who needed to be chaos'd into submission.

That was long ago, though. This time around, we're headed back to the Common Year 576, with new characters who will need to create their own, entirely novel reasons for getting kicked out of the city.

Though we've been in Greyhawk for decades (our most recent campaign was Elemental Apocalypse, which asks the question ...what if the Temple of Elemental Evil never fell?), we've never adventured in the 570s.

So ... we're back in the Domain of Greyhawk, and kicking the tires on the D&D 2024 rules (for the last decade, our campaigns have used 5e, so this isn't a radical change for us).

As part of the campaign, I'm chronicling our experience with the new rules and, ahem, the not-quite-right Greyhawk featured in the Dungeon Master's Guide as YouTube videos.

They are part of a long-running podcast called The Lair of Secrets (My co-host is David Moore, who was part of the Game Master's Show back during the First Age of Podcasting, you know, when you actually used an iPod to listen to podcasts...)

The Greyhawk episodes are pretty short - usually a few minutes, and I don't see them going longer than 15-20 minutes. They're meant to be quick hits, rather than dissertations. :)

Anyway, it's great to be back in Greyhawk and hanging out on Canonfire! again. It's been too long.
