I put AD&D 1E in the poll, but I really run Adventures Dark and Deep. They're pretty much the same; mine just has more options.

I choose Pathfinder 1e but really I'm running an unholy amalgam of Pathfinder smashed together with Adventures Dark & Deep, plus anything I liked from 2e, 3e, 3.5e and 5e.

2d edition will always be my favorite, but I also like 1st edition.

I’ve been running a 1E campaign since 2002 (currently in 574 CY), but I’m also starting a 5E 591 CY campaign at my FLGS this summer.

I run Fantasy Hero, 5th edition. I'm playing in a regular game with a hombrew custom system developed by the GM (Lord Bresin's Mayhem!)

Every once in a blue moon I run a one shot in D&D 5e.

AD&D 1st Edition with UA

I can't vote, but yeah, 1st Edition for my group.

Funny how the edition which must not be named isn't named.

I was highly annoyed with 4th edition when I first read the Player's Handbook and decided never to play it. However, I found that many young players, new to D&D, loved it. I had to think about it for a while and this is what I have concluded:

4th Edition D&D rules are made to play like a video game. Especially the level advancement. You have a 'Tech Tree' to choose from. That is very different from all previous versions of the rules. That is why I didn't (and still don't) like it. I don't want my role-playing to feel like a video game, mostly because it is very limiting. But, that is exactly why the younger generation enjoyed it so much. They were already familiar with the mechanics because they had grown up playing similar games on the computer. It made sense to them.

So, I recognize the reason that I and, presumably, other grognards don't care for the 4th edition mechanics while at the same time appreciating that there are others that enjoy them very much. I believe that TSR/WotC/Hasbro had that in mind when they developed 4th edition, purposefully targeting young, new players. That makes sense. If we, here at Canonfire!, want to bring young players into the fantasy world that we love, we need to treat 4th edition as respectfully as we treat all other editions.

After all, "Editions change. Greyhawk endures." Smile
