What are the "Free Regions" in the RPGA?

What areas are free from triad domination? I'm assuming Greyhawk, the Valley of the Mage, and the Lendore Isles (aka the Spindrifts)....

Where else?
Thanks,
Nell.

Here is a link

Nellisr,

The RPGA has three links that lists the real world ties to Greyhawk nations - namely North America, Europe and Asia/Pacific. Just use some deduction to see what's not tied to a real world locale.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/regions

Off the top of my head, in no particular order, I can think of:

North Kingdom,
Celene,
Spindrift/Lendor Islands,
Blackmoor,
the Scarlet Brotherhood,
Ull,
the Bright Kingdom,
Ratik,
Domain of Greyhawk/Hardby,
Tenh,
Wolf/Tiger Nomads and the Paynim lands,
Snow, Frost and Ice Barbarian lands,
and the Valley of the Mage.

But look at the lists, and compare them to a Greyhawk map for a more complete picture.

I hope this helps a little bit.

Sterich and the Sea Princes have no triad, though Sterich has seen some recent development in Dungeon.

I like the phrasing of the question -- "triad domination," as if they are a sinister force of evil bent on subjugation of all that they see :)

Some say they are...

Full list?

Complete list, I think.....

North Kingdom
Celene
Spindrift/Lendor Islands
Blackmoor
the Scarlet Brotherhood (inc. Amedio Jungle/Hepmonaland)
Ull
Ratik
Domain of Greyhawk (inc. Wild Coast)
Tenh
Wolf/Tiger Nomads and the
Plains of the Paynim
Snow, Frost and Ice Barbarians
Valley of the Mage.
Sterich
Sea Princes

Pomarj
Duchy/County of Ulek
Zeif
Empire of Iuz
Hold of Stonefist
Rovers of the Barrens
Solnor Compact
Medegia, along with several principalities of Ahlissa.
Various independent cities (Dekspoint, Melkot, Irongate, etc) and demi-human communities (Iron Hills, etc.)

Bright Desert & Hardby recently became part of a new 'core' region for the Bright Desert story arc (= you can make a character whose home region is Bright Lands/Hardby, along with proper regional feats, etc).

That does not make them Triad controlled area but a bit different nonetheless.

Sea Barons, but only because their Triad does not do anything Wink

It does -- that's a different list than I'd seen before. I thought Ratik had been handed out.

Thanks

Hawaiji (=Ratik) was folded into Nyrond because of low play numbers. Same thing happened with South Africa who had Dullstrand but lost it to Switzerland due to low play numbers and inactive Triad.

Duchy of Ulek was originally handed out as well but removed during 1st or 2nd year of LG.

The Duchy of Ulek was voluntarily folded by their Triad as the campaign began when they decided they simply wouldn't have the number of local conventions to support full scale play.

However, you cannot be from a region without a triad for game mechanic purposes, without other campaign documentation. That means my Tenha character, who has been a Tenha since the campaign started, cannot use the Duchy of Tenh for any regional access or other game mechanic.

Yeah its more of a role playing thing to be from a "Core" area...

Yes, but having some areas stay purely as 'core' means that their storylines will be open to everyone. Children of the Dust trilogy happening in Tenh is one of the examples.

I hereby declare myself the Melkot Monad.
Something sounds not quite wholesome about that monicker... perhaps I should change that to Unad. Hmmm... that has different issues. I'll have to think about this. ;-)
