Favoured Soul

Was surprised (and delighted) to see a Favoured Soul (in this case dedicated to Rudd) in the recent Dungeon. This leads me to ask if players are playing Favoured Souls out there, or if they are being used as NPCs.

More importantly (and without wanting to seem too restrictive), I was wondering if DMs feel that Favoured Souls would be exclusive (or at least more common among) some of the more radical / active / young gods. Pelor, for example, is widely worshipped. Cuthbert, Trithereon and Heironeous worshippers are very active.

I haven't run any yet, but you're right - certain gods just demand Favored Souls over Clerics.

To add to the list, my favorite baddie - Tharizdun. The lack of a hierarchy and the individual calling of He Who Sleeps seems like a perfect fit.

Trithereon, Fharlanghn, and other "loner gods" are others for whom the FS works. The backup to my Dwarven Battle Cleric in Shackled City is a Longspear-wielding Favored Soul of Trithereon.

And I can easily see a Xan Yae FS-Monk...
