Evidently Wizards of the Coast let the TSR trademark lapse 9 years ago and the Gygax family registered it last year (2011).
GYGAX Magazine will be its first offering, coming this December. Its staff includes: Jayson Elliot (editor), Ernie Gygax, Luke Gygax, Tim Kask, James Carpio, and Jim Wampler.
Edit (added magazine site): GYGAX Magazine
You can read the developing story at ENWorld:
Gygax Magazine? (UPDATE - the Gygax family IS involved!)
Here is the official site for the new TSR:
TSR Games
Happy gaming,

From what I understand, WotC let a lot of its old trademarks lapse. Greyhawk was just renewed this year, but Mystara has lapsed. Copyright still applies, of course; you could legally (warning: I am not a lawyer of any kind) publish your own game world and call it Mystara, but it couldn't include copyrighted elements from the old TSR Mystara.
Trademarkia.com confirms that TSR is currently trademarked by Hexagonist Publishing, with Jayson Elliot listed as the contact.

Forgive me if I am skeptical on this. I remember too well what happened with Castle Zagyg, Lejedary Adventures and Gygax Games. I hope this is true and that something good is coming but I am staying in wait and see mode. _________________ Agape,

Sarancenus,
Good find, yes Wotc has let many trademarks laspe from time to time. The Gygax family should have the trademark back I wish them luck and success in publishing the magazine.

Okay, the Swords & Wizardry and Original D&D Creative Guild really needs a new logo, because their current one looks a little like a diagram from a biology book.

I have taught Biology (high school) and even with our slashed budget to education our books aren't that bad. It is worse. They should retain Anna, Illustr8or, or Icarus to help them with their artistry and designs!

Or maybe we just have our minds where they shouldn't be -- in biology textbooks.
This is pretty intriguing. I'm definitely interested in checking it out.

It's not that it's bad; it's that it looks like a diagram of the female reproductive system.
Cannot unsee.

As we are all "gentlemen" I will refrain from the obvious puns and remarks that I wish to spew forth...but won't as we undoubtedly have ladies in our midst.

you guys are killing me.
Lanthorn, again a heartfelt thank you. It's nice to hear that the Gygax Magazine is using illustration and art! _________________ For the last time... I'm not a vampire! I was bleached a bewitching shade of white by The Gem of Souls!
