I'm Slow Sometimes: Wolf Nomads = Uyghurs

I know many of my fellow Greyhawk afficionados are students of world history (and certainly E. Gary Gygax was), so this may not be much of a revelation to you, but the lightbulb finally went off in my head this morning: Wegwiur = Uyghur. Duh. Everything fits historically. The name has been in my face for almost 40 years, and I just made the connection today.

-I remember noticing it a few years ago. It's not as if a Greyhawk-Real World analogy is unique.

Thanks for sharing that. That connection never hit me either until right now that I read this.

I always figured them for being like Dacians--the wolf being important in their symbology--but Uyghers sound good, too.

Honestly I didn't know anything about the Uyghur until I had one as a student a few years ago. When I began playing in the '80's the news was just about Tibet.

I think you've solved it.
