I have just found two new modules set in Greyhawk on Dragonsfoot! New Greyhawk material is always welcome and these are looking pretty good. The modules are:
Sea of Dust - a high level adventure in that part of the world
Beneath the Black Cairn - taking place in the Cairn Hills for a more lower level party.
Both modules are written by Joe Mohr and have some nice maps therein. Here is a link to the home page where you can find these as the latest uploads. Check them out!
I ran Mohr's Marsh Den of the Mad Mage over the summer. It was just okay, overall, and required fairly heavy modification, but I springboarded off the ideas that were there and came up with a satisfying side quest--but it did require a fair amount of groundwork. The lack of a grid on the map didn't help things.
In starting this discussion, I realized that there are other Greyhawk modules on Dragonsfoot that are worth adding to your collection. These are 1st and 2nd edition AD&D pdf copies that are free to download. Now, most of the CF regulars probably already know of these, but in case you missed them or are new to the site, here are a few more adventures to add to your Greyhawk campaigns.
The first batch are adventures that are specifically set in Greyhawk. I'll do a follow-on post with some others that are Greyhawk related but not specifically set in the lands.
First and foremost, Len Lakofka's continuation of the Lendore Island modules is something every GH fan should have. There are L4 Devilspawn and L5 The Kroten Campaign with additional companion guides and maps. These are things you must have in your pdf library, so if you do not have them, stop what you are doing right now and download them immediately!
Joe Mohr also did a Mistmash adventure, Lost Tome of the Mad Mage, as a further adventure involving Zagyg's old treasures for high level adventurers (level 8-10). I think this one was the one edmundscott was referencing earlier in this thread.
There is a thread on these forums that lists alternates to the G series of modules. One author, RC Pinnell, wrote a whole series of add-ons to the G1-3 adventures, taking a party against stone giants, cloud giants and even swamp giants. On Dragonsfoot, his GS13, Secret of the Storm Giant King, is there for your use. He also added in S9, Ransom of the Riverboat Queen and S10, Rescue on the Jotens to bridge the gap between the A series of modules and the G series.
For low level adventurers, The Beast of Geshtein (level 1-4), set in an obscure corner of the Sea Princes, can challenge thinking players in confronting a dragon at low levels.
DF32, The Tower of Azal Lan uses maps from Ivid the Undying and articles on Canonfire to explore a lich tower. DF26, The Forgotten City of Al-Arin is set in the Sea of Dust.
Finally, in S1 The Tomb of Horrors, it is implied that the demi-lich Acererack's tomb had several possible locations and that these may represent false tombs. Charley Phipps made a module, S7 The Howling Hills, that places one such false tomb on the highest hill in the plains of Iuz. It can be used as a prelude to tackling the real tomb or as an adventure in and of itself.
OK, so here is Part II of my "Greyhawk Modules on Dragonsfoot" thread.
These are ones that a not specifically Greyhawk, but are close enough to rate as part of the Greyhawk collector's inventory.
First, there is the Mad Demigod's Castle by Richard Graves. The author specifically stated that this module was supposed to be compatible with Joesph Bloch's Castle of the Mad Archmage, which itself is a fuzzed up version of Castle Greyhawk. All of these deserve a spot in your GH library, as I certainly can't get enough of Castle Zagyg.
DF16, Skein of the Death Mother, is intended to be an alternate take on Q1, Queen of the Demonweb Pits. Specially, it cuts out the spider-ship of Lolth, and places a lot of the encounters in a series of literal pits while adding in some new materials. Worth checking out, even if you are a Q1 fan, as you could easily slip in some of these ideas into a Demonweb campaign.
Finally, there is The Monastery of the Order of Crimson Monks. This is a collaborative effort, taking the sample dungeon in the 1e DMG and detailing out the rest of the map. While this does not really have any GH connection, being from the First Edition DMG makes it an honorary Greyhawk setting.
So that is all I could find. If I missed any, just add them into the thread. As a general principle though, you should check out all the modules on Dragonsfoot, as well as their e-zine Footprints, custom character sheets and other materials. Again, for those who have been on CF for a while, you likely already have these things, but if you haven't check them out!
