I am developing a story envolving an age-old giant city whose leader, an evil titan (now possible in MM 3.5) betrayed his patron god in exchange for personal power by the demon prince Kostchtchie. When divine retribution came, the city was devasted and the titan, reduced to a shadow of his former self (becoming a Nightwalker), the giants who served him, mostly frost giants, turned to ice statues and their souls are still locked in those husks. However, i am not sure the god i will use for the titan's patron: one possibility is to use Annam, the giant chief god, but i would like to use a god linked to cold and ice portfolio, because of the city's curse. Checking the Defenders of Faith, it said Thrym is the god of frost giants, while in Deities & Demigods (3rd Ed) referred Thrym only as the norse god of frost giants. So, i would like to know if there is any mention in canon sources about the oerth patron of frost giants, if it's Thrym indeed, or even a human winter god such as Telchur or Vatun. _________________ Kneel before Rahu!
Thrym sounds like the best option, to me. According to the Living Greyhawk Deities (ver. 1.3, May 2003), Thrym is the official deity of Frost Giants.
Thrym - CE; Male, Intermediate Deity;
Frost Giants, Cold, Ice, Magic Frost Giant;
Symbol - White double-bladed greataxe;
Domains - Chaos, Destruction, Evil, Magic, and War;
PrC Domains - Divination, Madness, Mind, Mysticism, Summoning;
Preferred Weapon - Large greataxe (m);
Weapon of the Deity Spell - +1 frost large greataxe.
Browse through the document, though. And get your own ideas. There are a few other giant deities - and many more. Good luck. _________________ Don (Greyson)
