Ideas for developing Vuurzward

In my campaign the characters are about to leave an abbey in the southern Mounds of Dawn, a few days south of Exag.
They are heading to Krestible but I see there is a town they will probably visit before Krestible, Vuurzward.
I have some ideas for making Krestible somehow "memorable". Its walls should still be suffering from the various invasions from the south, and was also possibly unser siege during the reign of Iggwilv.
But for Vuurzward I have few ideas. I guess it shoudl look "traditional" Perrenland, but how would you add details to make people remember it? Mummified heads on the buildings? Intensive use of flowers for decoration? And how big do you thing this city should be, small town? More flannish or more oeridian in feel?
