Sorry I haven't replied to this thread in some time. Regarding the previous post, I only have a total of 10 image files for all of the Cartography & Geography Articles that are posted, and some of those are just thumbnail images. Not every article has a link to a map image in it, though most do, and some links lead off-site and are defunct. I can do nothing about these latter defunct links, other than host the missing file (s) on Canonfire! (and update the links of course), but only in the event that I either have that file squirreled away somewhere and can find it, or if somebody else has it and can provide it.
If anyone has missing files for any Articles, then drop me a PM and let me know, and I will see about updating things. |

The forum search function still has errors, but could at least the link be fixed?
Change the "cf" section to just "cf."
Thanks |

not sure if it is related to this old report... but there seems to be a similarly described error at the same location,,,,
the error reported is as follows
The requested URL /oerthjournals/OJ_06.pdf was not found on this server.
it occurs when using
http://www.canonfire.com/cf/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=2
links at the bottom |

Not if you only leave a comment. You also have to click on the "Report Broken Link" button after leaving your comment. That is what reports the broken link. The comment option merely allows one to attach an explanation of the problem they are having. Otherwise, without clicking the "Report Broken Link" button, you have just left a comment which may, or may not in this case, be noticed.
The best way to report a broken link is to do so using the "Report Broken Link" text link near the bottom of the entry on the Downloads page. It doesn't include a comment, but it notifies us immediately, and provides a file link for the admin as well. The Vetha link was fixed a while back. Sorry that I didn't reply to this post. The file may be found in the Downloads section HERE, or more directly HERE. |

I cleaned up a bunch of busted links in the Downloads section, and restored some files that had gone missing(many more to go).
As usual, continue to post any broken links in this thread, with a description of the the problem and a link to the page that the broken link is on, and I'll look into it as soon as I am able to do so. |

Thanks Cebrion! I appreciate the explanation. Glad to know I wasn't missing out on anything.

The reason some articles have lots of comments listed, but actually have no comments is due to a previous spam attack with dog-piled spammed links(many leading to viruses/inappropriate content) in the comments. When the spam was deleted, the system didn't update the true number of comments remaining for some reason.
As to the comment you posted, that is an example of what snuck through last time(in 2008). Seems somebody missed that one. |

I'm not sure if this is the proper place, but it seemed the best thread to post this in. I have two concerns that I hope you will address:
First, I see that some articles have many comments, but I can't seem to find all of them. Only about five comments are ever available for my perusal. I can't seem to figure out how to access the others.
Second, below is the last comment available to read on the article titled, "An Overview of Oerik" by Scottenkainen. If it really is a spam advertisement, as it appears, please remove it. (Note that though my copy doesn't include actual links, the original comment did.) Thanks!

I am also trying to retrieve these maps. This link is still broken and the comments on this article has about 2 full pages of spam as well. |

You are trying to visit e-mail? That usually doesn't work out so well when it doesn't belong to you. |

On the OerthJournal Main Page, the link: oerthjournal (at) gmail (dot) com takes me to this page: http://www.canonfire.com/cf/.
The same webaddress (though not an actual link) in the OJ discussion thread simply fails to work at all.
And, yes, I did replace the (at) with an '@' and the (dot) with a '.'

I am getting this as well and thought I had inadvertantly altered my security settings. Are we all seeing no articles on the home page and none in the categories? |

I am interested in any and all broken links, from anywhere really. Heck, I might as well include the Downloads section too. I am working according to my own plan, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease so to speak. Any reported broken links will immediately go to the top of the list to dealt with as soon as is possible. As you will notice, the broken link you reported is already fixed.
Also, the way in which you reported the broken link is perfect, so thanks for that. Keep those broken links coming! |

There is is no need to report on broken Downloads links. Though not all links are fixed, it is pretty much under control(at least as much as it can be). Some Downloads will remain, pending me finding a copy of the files such that I can fix them. If it turns out that copies of files cannot be located, those particular Downloads will likely be removed altogether(as they will just annoy people and spawn further messages about unrepairable broken links).
EDIT: All but 2 maps in the Downloads section are now fixed. Adventures are all fixed, but need to be added to. Fixed many other popular file links as well.
People may submit content to the Downloads area by using the "Add Download" function just below the Search function on this page HERE, and by sending any files to be downloaded to editors<at>canonfire<dot>com.
Keep the downloadable content to appropriate material folks, as every submitted Download goes through a review process before being posted.
Also, it seems that I may need a more active helper. Anybody who wishes to become a helper(i.e. the kobold tied to the 10' pole I use when entering dungeons) need only apply here for directions. I can only promise you fame and glory, and the occasional springing dart or pit trap. You know you want to. |

I have found the zip file for the Pomarj paper-sized map and fixed the link to it. However, I do not have the poster-sized map file.
EDIT: Dave C. sent me the other file(thanks Dave), so both are now fixed. Two broken Article links down, likely a bazillion more broken Article links left to go. (That's the madness starting to take hold.)
All help is greatly appreciated. |

I have begun fixing some links I could find the files for. This is a beyond tedious process, for though we have a massive amount of files, the file names are often not descriptive enough to know exactly what version each is(i.e. who made them)- especially the map images. But the fixing of the broken links has begun. Most of my other tasks are completed, except editing articles for The Oerth Journal #26(gotta get that finished soon), and so I will continue plugging away at this slowly but surely.
Please continue to report any broken links you find in the Downloads section and use the Report Broken Link function provided there, as it creates list of the broken links that I can easily view. Plenty of broken Downloads links have already been reported, and so I'll be starting there.
And with that the first broken link has been fixed, and Abysslin's very popular Map of the Flanaess map is back up. |

"Operation: Missing Files/Broken Links. Report them HERE!!!"
What the title says. Please report broken links/missing files from anywhere on the site here in this thread. Provide a link to the page where the broken link is, and name what it is if there are multiple links on that page. I know there are quite few of them so I'll be leaving this thread here in the General Discussion forum for a while before moving it elsewhere. A new file storage system has been put into place, and all files will eventually be archived there. This should see many broken links restored, and keep links from dieing due to off-site hosting going dead/being altered, etc. If you have some of the missing files, please post what you have.
Thanks. |
