I'm sure I've seen old Dragon magazines, etc... that have generic filler items for decking out a dungeon's rooms, but I don't know where. I'm writing up a modest three level dungeon complex for my players, and want to be at least mildly descriptive about the furnishings the humanoids (mostly derro) within have in their living quarters, etc... but short of pilfering stuff from existing modules I have, and using my own imagination (gods forbid), I don't know where to look. Anybody know of a link to a Random Furnishings Generator, or a Dungeon I could shop for on ebay with a related article? Any advice appreciated...

the 1st edition DMG had a wonderful set of "discriptive filler" type tables in the back, if you could find one of those it might be a big help.

There's an equipment list in Dragon issue 117 called the Dungeoneer's Shopping Guide. It's basically an expanded list to include things such as clothing, furnishings, alchemical supplies, musical instruments...things of that nature.

The 3.0 DMG also has a chart of dungeon furnishings in the adventures chapter. _________________ -Matt

Well when thinking of creating filler sometimes all you have to do is think about your main inhabitant's. the Derro are twisted Dwarves so some of the dungeon should follow what might be expected in normal dwarven society. But how can we twist things a bit add that chaotic style to this dungeon maybe acid pools are set up almost like a fountain in a park would be. Perhaps their jails are full with forms of artifical light used to punish their criminals. Remember ample lighting will not be the norm for a Derro lair. I think the enviroment would be one of the most dangerous examples for them to overcome. Increase encounters when they carry a large open light source.

Just had to say that is an excellent suggestion for an underground race's jail. Thrown into a room illuminated by continual light, for example, would be rather nasty for a derro wouldn't it?
