Blackthorn Ogres in 576cy TOEE

Has anyone else connected the Blackthorn Ogre leadership tribe located in the depths of the Gnarley Forest with the Ogre Chieftain on the lower levels of the Temple of Elemental Evil?

As described in the T1-4 TOEE module.

Ogre Chieftain: see above 126, 700xp

Ogre Leaders (2): use Ogre p. 237, 900xp

Ogre Shaman: use Ogre p. 237, 700xp

I haven't but that sounds like a good idea.

I like to connect things, makes the game more interesting. Layers of politics. Tendrils of plot points. I would think that the temple leadership would reach out and recruit from all evil factions in the area. I like to know where troops and monsters come from. They just dont appear out of thin air. Since Blackthorn does exist in the Gnarley and they do raid through out the Gnarly and into southern Viscounty i would think the recruitment efforts of the Temple would connect them. The Blackthorn chief could be bribed and like what the Temple is planning.

I think there was meant to be some connection between Blackthorn and those under the Tower of War in Greyhawk Ruins.

I remember this as well. IIRC, there were supposed to be three means of egress for the humanoid hordes from Deep Oerth to use to assault the City of Greyhawk - one under the Tower of War, Blackthorn, and a third I can't recall.
