One of the founders of our hobby and one of the most unsung contributors to Dungeons & Dragons, Len Lakofka has passed away at the age of 76.
Along with the many adventures, classes, spells, and rules he created, Len was also father of the Suel in Greyhawk, designer of their gods, and namesake of the Lendore Isles.
The value of his work goes without saying, but his presence will be sorely missed. The adventures of Leomund go on.
What experiences or stories do you have running the AD&D psionics rules found in the PHB and DMG?
What about the psionics rules did you find easy to understand, or hard to understand, and why?
How do the psionics rules of this edition compare with other editions in your experiences?
What would you constructively change to improve the psionics rules in this edition?
(Please note: removing the psionics rules is not a valid answer for the purposes of any of these questions! If you would really prefer to remove the psionics rules, please don't reply at all.) _________________ Does the walker choose the path, or does the path choose the walker?
I found the psionics articles in Dragon #78 very useful and inspirational, and we built upon them and our own homebrewing BITD to expand psionics considerably*, although we've also played with them in different ways at different times (including removing/ignoring them too).
For some good 1e-based discussion of psionics, see these threads at the Knights & Knaves Alehouse:
