    The Dagger of Misfortune

Working its way east huh? Maybe it is a trick of Rao to passify the Aredy by forcing them to think twice before drawing their daggers? Maybe not.

That is a nasty bit of weaponry. Very well done. I have never seen the simple “cursed weapon” done up so well. Got an evil monkey-paw vibe off that one.

Thanks Wolfsire. The idea stemmed from the fact that I am growing jaded over generic items and that every bit of gear found in D&D, whether magic or not is kept for loot purposes. Well I think given that amount of looting of the dead eventually you will get burnt by a cursed item sooner or later. Hence the Uli saying.

Excellent article Mortellan! I'm diggin' the Baklunish folktale angle. It's the perfect combination of nice details to bring the item to life and enough leeway on the origin to let DM's adapt it to any nefarious related purposes they want to put it to, other than the inherent nefarious purposes of course.

Now inspired by Wolfsire's monkey's paw comment, a comical routine ripped off from the Simpsons -

Mysterious Merchant: Take this mundane blade with neither markings nor any remarkable craftsmanship, but beware, it carries a terrible curse!
    Otto: Ooooh, that's bad.
Mysterious Merchant: But it comes with a free Frogurt!
    Otto: Oh, that's good.
Mysterious Merchant: The Frogurt is also cursed!
    Otto: Ewww, that's bad.
Mysterious Merchant: But you get your choice of topping!
    Otto: Whew! That's good.
Mysterious Merchant: But your choice of toppings are coffee beans either from the Baklunish west or Hepmonaland.
    Otto: Wait, what?
Moquol: Heretic! Coffee beans come from the Baklunish west!
Tezcatlipoca: Unwashed heathen! Coffee beans come from Hepmonaland!
Otto: Is this the curse part?

simply loved the dagger, mortellan. the lore will definately be spreading throughout the baklunish states in my campaign...though my players may kill me if another cursed item finds its way into their hands hehe.
