What GH Deity would you be?

The title says it all. Alignment, portfolio, coolness factor, any of those reasons can be used, but which deity would you desire to be or most exemplifies you already?

Growing up, it would have been Herioneous. As an adult, in all honesty, it really would be Istus. I'm big on bible prophecy and I think my views as a result would find themselves quite close to her dogma.

I would desire to be Boccob the Uncaring. He's the God of Magic and he doesn't care. He collects any magic item that ever existed. And Zagyg is his disciple.

Murlynd! I am one of the new faithful! (Albeit from the neutral good faction). Wouldn't mind being the benevolent and well loved Pelor either. Rereading the DMG I a few months ago I noticed that the Mace of Disruption was neutral good aligned... Wink

Gallis: I had forgot about that old strip. I wish I had drug it out for 4th edition, too late!

Eileen: Istus is a good un, who wouldn't want to control their own destiny?

manic: Murlynd, now thats a choice I didn't expect, very cool idea!

I've been in love with Murlynd for ages! I very nearly even did his Holy Book (which is a nice little catalogue of some of his adventures).

I always prefer to play a Sorcerer, so Boccob sounds "cool," BUT, at the same time, my own personality is not "Uncaring." Sad

I like to play Neutral Good and so Trithereon's individual rights and pursuit of tyrants theme is nice, since tyrannical laws irk me. BUT, at the same time, he's a little too disdainful of Law/Order. Sad

Biblical prophecy has always been my favorite study, but Istus simply doesn't appeal to me. She's "aloof" from everything, even other Gods. So, to a certain extent, Boccob isn't the only diety who is "Uncaring." Confused

So I can't really choose one. There's never really been a Greyhawk God -- in any of the Pantheons -- that has satisfied me. Makes it a little hard, from my perspective. Sad

    Just my thoughts. Happy

Hmm. There doesn't seem to be a god of slacker forum-trollers listed in the pantheon. Unless you count this:

    https://www.flash.net/~brenfrow/d20/trollgod.htm

    which is not Greyhawk-specific.

Garl Glittergold because he's got a name like some kind of Swedish-death-metal/glam-rock rock-star. Well, and the cool pointy hat, although you never see him wearing it.

EDIT: Or Orcus (does he count) because he whacked Demogorgon in the goonies with his wand.

Xagyg. Xagyg or Boccob. Boccob was my initial reaction to the question because he is the god of learning and arcane knowledge. Arcane knowledge implies knowledge that is hidden or obscured which is something that completely fascinates me. By logical extension of his existing portfolio, he is also the god of books and libraries in my campaign.

Xagyg on the other hand because he is the good of things that are often associated with me by my friends. I tend to be pretty funny, have accumulated all kinds of interesting tidbits of knowledge about all sorts of religions and history and stuff.

I have always been partial to Hextor, I picture him as a Klingon type honorable warrior without all the Heironean goodie two shoes stuff. Not evil for the sake of being bad, or mindlessly vile, but a warrior who uses any means to achieve victory and protect his people (or conquer others).

    Which diety...

Incabulos. He's the nastiest one. Nerull, Hextor, Iuz - they are all evil. But Incabulos is nastier. God of Pestilence??? How cool is that![/b]

I'd be sort of like Gemini from Thundarr the Barbarian, but not evil. Most of the time the Rao persona is in control, but every now and then my head spins around and the zealous St. Cuthbert persona takes over. Happy

The two that popped into my head immediately were Murlynd and Zagyg. However, I would also not object to being Fharlaghan, or maybe St. Cuthbert o' the Cudgel.

Probably Rao, in the sense that I prefer calm, sensible discussion over angry shouting and insults...which is all too common in this day and age.

Rao is the guy who tries to be the sensible, balanced moderate, who finds good arguments on both sides and tries to reconcile them, but who is often ignored by people too blinded by passion on one side or another.

I'm gonna have to go with Vecna...Knowing everybody's dirty little secrets, hmmm good...And constantly on my way up the deity ladder; next stop greater god...I mean, we have two hands and two eyes so that we might get by with but one, right?...

If not Vecna, then Tharizdun and to nothingness with everything and everyone!...I'd have to be mad to make those two choices, wouldn't I?...

I would have to say Murlynd due to the fact that if magic existed, I would constantly be trying to combine it with science and technology. The fact that he is an explorer through and through also would be a positive match. However, I would be more neutral good with occasional chaotic tendencies.

I think I would stick to using portals rather than joining Zagyg's "Gods in Space" crew... Laughing

    Yay Telemachus!

Just wondering what kinda hard-sell wacky Zagyg managed to pull off that got Murlynd to apprentice under him and still retain his alignment!

I think they were just adventuring companions, not master and apprentice. And they mainly did things together that both could agree on, like imprisoning Iuz.

No votes for the naked mole-rat?

    Cannoneers,

If I was a gnome (which I am not...) I would have to be that sleek, sexy, giant, pink, utterly (or is that udderly...) evil in a hairless mole-rat kind of irresistable way, that life of the party...that lurker below...Urdlen!

Who else can tunnel from the Abyss straight into your heart?

Ullite games of chance: guess how many spear thrusts it takes to kill a man, guess who screams loudest when you scalp them, summon a demon and guess which type appears, spin the severed head, how many stones does it take to crush a man, throw a man off a cliff and guess if he survives, toss a halfling in the air for heads or tails.
