    "Uh...is this thing on?"

Hello! I'm an old school gamer and lifelong fan of Greyhawk. Funny story I learned how to play D&D when I was about 13 years old. The town I went to school in had these "Saturday classes" for the kids. It was stuff like Aikido, gymnastics, etc. Well there was a 'Learn To Play Dungeons and Dragons' and I believe from looking around here that the teacher was Grodog! Just goes to show it's a small world, but I'd hate to paint it.

    Love the subject line. Laughing

I never made the switch to Forgotten Realms because, to me, WoG was a better campaign world.

    KierWyldwynd,

Welcome to the boards. Fell free to ask any questions or join in on the discussion here. Also if you have a chance join us for the Thursday night chats. You can get there by clicking on the link to your left listed as Greytalk Chat Now! (with java). We welcome newcomers as some of us are so old the Internet was not even invented yet for lay users.

Message boards where things you stuck messages on in a lobby. Cell phones weighed 12lbs and cost like eight dollars a minute. Well you get it we have some old people here. Laughing

    Once again welcome aboard!

As I recall, the "Message Board" was a magnet on the door of the refrigerator . . . and I had to ask someone what a "cell phone" was. Microscopic maybe? Wink

Of course, I'm one of those few who remember the creation of . . . Pac-Man! Shocked

My kid brother told me about it. It was all the "rage" back then, along with Donkey Kong. (No, not "junior." Evil Grin )

You "kids" talk about the weirdest things. Laughing Laughing Laughing

    Welcome to "Canonfire!" KierWyldwynd. Cool

Ah... The Mystic has crawled out of his crypt to greet you Kierwyldwynd.

He must have completed his latest potion, scroll, or item. What it entails one can only ponder. I see his crystal ball has managed to connect to the Internet again. Beware his cryptic meanderings hold truth and knowledge, though only the astute can decipher his script!

LOL. Well, the world is a small place, indeed. I've actually still got the class materials for those enrichment "intro to D&D" classes I taught (c. 1984-6 or so?) up in the attic, and have been meaning to pull them out to see if they're of any use for helping kids to learn to play these days....

Welcome aboard, KierWyldwynd, and feel free to send me a PM or email to introduce yourself again, so to speak ;)

Coincidentally, I just found the old course materials I had created for these classes in my Tolkien class notes folder....
