    Bard colleges or schools?

Hi All. I tried Google and the search function here, but couldn't find ANY info on Bard colleges or schools. Is there anything like that?

Basically, I am trying to fast forward the timeline for my characters as I want them to experience the Greyhawk Wars. One player is a Wood Elf Bard that I was thinking could study human songs and history in Furyondy. I can't find any info on any schools.

    Using my tool at http://wait-wtf.com:3001

    I find references to "college" in Oerth Journals #3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 27.

I checked volume 15 and find:

    Bardic Colleges in the Flanaess

    Quote:
There are eight bardic colleges within the Flanaess: Fochlucan,
MacFuirmidh, Doss, Canaith, Cli, Anstruth, Ollamh, and Magna
    Alumnae.

College level affects one’s social status within the bardic
community. Only a Magna Alumnae will freely associate with
bards of a lesser college. Other bards will not associate with bards
of a lesser college, unless serving as an instructor. This hierarchy is
further accentuated by the segregating nature of the architecture
within the colleges. Often this consists of concentric arrangements,
    successive levels, or inner rooms

There's quite a bit more detail following that.

Perhaps not exactly a college, but with the inclusion of the wars you may find this interesting...

I do believe there's one located in Greyhawk City, if that helps.

For some reason I also want to say there's a school for bards in Verbobonc too.

+1 on the schools in OJ#15.

Not exactly a college, but Wee Jas has a bardic order of Keepers in OJ#7.

A lot of bardic instruction won't be as formal as the Bardschool in Greyhawk or the organizations in Oerth Journal. In many countries and cultures like your PC's wood elf, bards may rely entirely on oral traditions and mentorship.

The goddess Lirr is overlooked and her priesthood would certainly be involved with bardic organizations. The Tree People in WG12 worship her and don't have a written language.

Maybe there's a schism between Old Lore/Old Faith bards of druidic and Flan tradition and the formally-trained urban bards of Lirr, Lydia, Delleb, and the Oeridian nature deities.

The Rhennee have their own culture of legerdemain, wandering, and folklore that could butt heads with bards.

BTW, some of the flavor text in the Complete Bards' Handbook has GH references.
