Re: The Sud Graufult - Fief of Olvanstaadt-am-Graufult (Score: 1) by Taras on Mon, September 10, 2001 (User Info | Send a Message) | First, I would like to dispute that the Aerdi are genocidal. The only evidence I know of regarding their slaughter of conquered peoples was a single Hextorian commander up in North Province, and the event was remarked to be unusually cruel. I think that the fact that pureblood Oerids are a rarity among the Aerdy lands is enough proof of their lack of genocidal tendencies, since they didn't slaughter others. They just bred them out of existance. Remember, the Naelax Overkings weren't always in charge. The Crandens and early Raxes, who would've been ruling at the time of the conquests of the south, were forces of justice and good. And the Crandens had Ahlissa as one of their strongholds...they even joined in the Iron Leage's rebellion, until Overking Ivid I had the last Cranden Herzog replaced with a Naelaxian.
About Pholtus...yes, that is one of my heresies. When choosing a replacement, the four Wind Gods (Atroa, Wenta, Sotillion, and Telchur) would be a better replacement than the Flan agricultural deities. They do show up in the area (ahem, it'll be seen when I manage to get it up here).
Sulzdorf probabily does have a trail leading between it and Olvanstaadt-a.G. The more important road also links to Noshirat, which is a bit more of a trade center, and thus a more important destination. Of course, if you don't like that explanation, you can always stick a swamp in there between the two. The river had to get it's name somehow. :P
About inns...ummm...I'm just guessing on the matter? I figured a village living on trade could handle a few inns. I also figure that most of these inns are, well, small and mostly a side way of making money, not the main business of those running them. If you don't like it, then feel free to change it.
Finally, the Harashim. The Harashim aren't much of a minority. They outnumber the xenophobic Suel purebloods in the region. And if you don't like my ethnic subgrouping, you're really gonna hate some of the other things I've got planned for writeups. |
