Actually a few of the omnipotent views are inspired by my players. This one in particular was because the player of Atok left the gaming group to move to California. We felt that a letter in this format would cheer him up :)
To keep Atok "alive" in the minds of the players, I used him as an NPC in a few adventures and sent a copy to my friend in California.
